Mold Testing & Indoor Air Quality Testing

Air, surface, ERMI, mycotoxin, VOC and allergen sampling.

Mold testing measures what is actually in the air and on surfaces. Mold Safe Solutions collects air and surface samples in San Diego County properties and sends them to an accredited independent laboratory for spore counts, ERMI analysis, mycotoxins, VOCs, allergens and bacteria.

Tests we perform

Testing answers questions a visual inspection cannot: whether elevated spore levels exist in air you breathe, which genera are present, and whether indoor counts exceed the outdoor baseline taken the same day.

  • Spore trap air sampling with an outdoor control sample for comparison
  • Surface tape lift and swab sampling of suspect growth
  • ERMI (EPA Environmental Relative Moldiness Index) dust analysis
  • Mycotoxin screening
  • VOC, allergen and bacteria testing where indoor air quality symptoms are the concern
  • EMF and RF testing on request for whole-environment assessments

Independent laboratory results

Samples go to a third-party accredited lab, not an in-house bench. You receive the raw lab report alongside our interpretation, so a second opinion — from a physician, an attorney, or another consultant — is always possible.

Mold & Air Quality Testing FAQs

Is a mold test necessary if I can already see mold?
Not always. If growth is visible and the moisture source is obvious, the money is usually better spent on removal. Testing matters when mold is suspected but hidden, when health symptoms need documentation, or when you need clearance proof after remediation.
How fast do lab results come back?
Standard turnaround is two to five business days. Expedited turnaround is available when a real estate transaction or a health issue is on a deadline.
Are DIY mold test kits reliable?
Petri-dish store kits will grow mold from almost any indoor air sample, because normal air contains spores. They cannot tell you whether levels are elevated relative to outdoors, which is the measurement that matters.
